Mike Wesner is the Founder of ProjectEx and knows that campus ministry can change lives. He has been involved with campus ministry as a student, ministry president, board member, and staff member. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Mike is a retired Navy Commander who once survived a terrorist attack. He is an energetic idea guy that can drive those who don pocket protectors crazy. Mike grew up loving sports in the small coastal community of Plymouth, NC where he was a slow, undersized high school quarterback for teams that were less than impressive.
He grew up in the church but credits a diligent aunt, great campus minister, and Navy chaplain for making sure that he did not abandon his faith after leaving home. He holds degrees from UNC Chapel Hill and the University of New Orleans and has led communications companies in Florida and South Carolina before finally returning home to help raise money for Campus Christian Fellowship in 2004. Mike works as a marketing consultant during the week and helps organizations improve marketing effectiveness and efficiencies. Mike’s final years in the Navy were as an officer leadership instructor. He loves developing young adults as leaders and helping them find their purpose in life. Wild at heart in life and in the kitchen, he often pretends he is a gourmet chef to the delight of this three sons and wife in Cary, NC.
