About

ProjectEx started in 2007 as a prayer and awareness campaign led by Campus Christian Fellowship, a college ministry in North Carolina.  ProjectEx was created to bring awareness to the state’s churches of the large number of young adults who were disengaging from the church during their college years.  For 30 years, CCF had been leading many college students to Christ, but has long been challenged with losing kids who were once active in their local church youth programs.

CCF Promoter Mike Wesner, a campus ministry student at the UNC-Chapel Hill in the late 1980’s, realized how fragile an unprepared student could be in the dangerous landscape of the American college campus. He asked the state’s churches to pray and fast for the large numbers of students that would be entering school that fall semester.    This call for action resonated with many leaders in the state who had seen large numbers of youth disengage from the church after leaving for college.  The call for action spurred Justin Wallace, the Teaching Pastor of ImpactUNCC, to challenge many youth leaders in the state to come together and create an event that would help this potentially lost generation of youth.  Justin presents the gospel of Jesus Christ in a relevant and poignant style that is convicting to young people who are searching for their purpose in life.

Mike, Justin and their team have devoted themselves to a ministry whose scope is bigger than any one school or any state.  ProjectEx exists to help college students passionately live out their relationship with Jesus while in college.  We desire to help young adults discover God’s purpose in their lives. We exist because the future of the church depends on it.

Today, ProjectEx is an annual conference designed to bring transitioning young adults together for a long weekend of spiritual renewal and self-discovery that will pave the way for life changing success in college, careers, and ministry.
